Ashamed

I had a true moment of mommy shame the other day and have decided to share it with my bloggy community. Only because I'm sure there are other moms out there who can relate and will help me deal with these horrible feelings.

OK - so I've set this up pretty good, so here it goes...
The other day, I'm driving in Fishers, down SR37 with the girls in the backseat, when we pass the "Golden Arches" and totally unprevoked, Lauren says "French fries."

What?! You are not even 2 years old and you already associate the McDonald's sign with french fries??

Two years ago, when my babies were merely in my womb, I had dreams of being an organic mommy. Breastfeeding, making their baby food, obsessing over their sugar and sodium intake (which I still do a little). Swearing they wouldn't see a french fry until after their second birthday.

But, it's happened. On occassion, my kids eat McDonald's, because on occassion, mommy wants McDonald's. And french fries may not come in their nuggets meal with apples, but they come with mommy's value meal and they insist that I share.

I guess it's not so much a moment of shame as a moment of truth. A confession if you will.

Any moms out there had moments like this?? I'd love to hear your stories.

Unfortunately, we eat at McDonald's so frequently (like today) that the kids complain about getting the same toy AGAIN:0(

I've got a good one for you. When we drive past any fast food of any kind, Mason, who turns 2 tomorrow, says, "I wanna shake!" The boys were sick for quite a long time in the winter and would not take their medicine. Finally the doctor said, put it in a shake, and so we did...for about a week straight! Fries are potatoes and shakes are milk, who cares?!

I love this story! My 4 year old will announce at any drive thru (dry cleaners, CVS, the bank), "I'll take a number 4, Mom!" What have I created?
